District, Finals and banquet
Good Afternoon,
It is hard to believe summer swim is almost over! Congratulations to everyone who participated in the meet yesterday. Many of you swam new events and did great. We are all very proud of all of you! The results from yesterdays meet are attached.
Tuesdays practice will be the last official practice of the season. District is Wednesday. Those who qualify for Finals will have practice on Thursday and Friday (at modified times). We will be reaching out to those who qualify for finals with practice information.
How do swimmers qualify for finals? If your swimmer places top 3 in district (overall, not just in their heat), they automatically qualify for Finals this Saturday 7/15. On Thursday, we will meet with the league and then take the next fastest 7 swimmers from all the districts as "wildcards". We will notify you Thursday evening if your swimmer qualifies as a wildcard. This will give us the top 16 swimmers in each event.
End of year gift: One of the end of the year gifts is a custom swim cap. The coaches will be handing them out on Tuesday for the swimmers to wear to District/Finals. Each swimmer must wear the swim cap to district/finals.
District meet: Our district meet is Wednesday (7/12) at Tanoan Country Club. If your swimmer wants to ride the bus, be at the city pool by 5:30am. Bus leaves at 5:40am. Warm up is 7:30 am and meet starts at 8:00 am. We will need 16 timers (8 per half) and someone to sell shirts. Sign up on swimtopia or reply back to this email. The heat sheet for District is also attached.
End of Year Banquet: We will be having our end of year banquet, Sunday (July 16) at 4:00 pm at the city pool. It will be a potluck. We will provide hot dogs, hot dog buns, mustard, ketchup, relish, and paper goods. We are asking families to bring something to share (toppings for hot dogs, chips, fruits, veggies, dessert, etc.) and bring your own drinks. After we eat, we will give out awards/end of year gifts. Then we will open the pool for the kids (and siblings/family) to swim.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Go Stingrays!
